The salary of the finalist selected for this role will be set based on a variety of factors, including but not limited to departmental budgets, qualifications, experience, education, licenses, specialty, and training. Position Summary
The Herbert Irving Comprehensive Cancer Center (HICCC) at Columbia University seeks a Laboratory Operations Coordinator to serve as a primary point of contact for research support, facilities coordination, and general troubleshooting. This role acts as a centralized resource to ensure laboratory operations are responsive and aligned with institutional standards.
Responsibilities
Procurement & Inventory
- Collect and organize purchasing and vendor data to analyze trends.
- Coordinate with the Columbia Procurement Office on specialty equipment requests and contract reviews.
Facilities & Space Management
- Track and escalate infrastructure or maintenance issues to Columbia Facilities.
- Support lab move coordination and maintain research space databases.
Operational Support
- Manage day-to-day research support programs, including emergency backup freezer monitoring.
- Maintain electronic resource catalogs.
Lifecycle Management
- Facilitate faculty onboarding and offboarding related to lab readiness, equipment, and space.
Troubleshooting & Compliance
- Serve as a resource to resolve operational issues.
- Ensure compliance with safety and operational policies.
Other duties as assigned
- Perform other related duties and responsibilities as assigned/requested.
Minimum Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree or equivalent in education and experience plus three years of related experience.

- Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, deadline-driven setting.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Strong problem-solving and judgment, with the ability to act as a liaison between faculty, administration, and central services.
- Detail-oriented with strong organizational skills.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities effectively.
