Position Summary
Reporting to the Associate Vice President of Finance, the Executive Director of Grant Administration (ED) will establish an administrative center of excellence to provide leadership, coordination, and execution of research development activities across the Arts and Sciences at Columbia University. With a primary focus on pre-award functions, the ED will ensure comprehensive support for faculty and researchers in securing external funding for their work. The ED will lead the identification and pursuit of funding opportunities, focusing on large-scale, multi-disciplinary initiatives that advance A&S priorities. This includes collaborating with faculty to develop competitive grant proposals, providing expert guidance on crafting narratives, and ensuring alignment with funding agency requirements. The ED will oversee the preparation of detailed budgets and facilitate the integration of complex institutional resources into grant submissions.

| Grants Manager | New York | Reporting to the Associate Director of Finance and Administration (DFA), the Grants Manager is the lead administrator for pre- and post-award grant activities, acting as the department’s representative to sponsoring agencies. The Grants Manager is responsible for the entire lifecycle of grants, including proposal preparation, compliance review, budget oversight, financial reconciliation, and reporting. This position ensures adherence to grant and contract regulations while assisting principal investigators and fostering effective communication with funding agencies. | |
| Assistant Controller, Financial Operations-Hybrid Schedule | Manhattanville | Reporting to the University Controller and Associate Vice President, the Assistant Controller, Financial Operations oversees a portfolio of financial operations for the University. The broader Controller’s Office includes Financial Reporting & Operations, Fringe Benefits & Pension Accounting, Post-award administration of sponsored projects, Tax, Payroll, and International Operations. The Assistant Controller’s portfolio will initially include some or all of the following departments: Payroll, Fringe Benefits accounting & reporting, and process enhancements including implementing process improvement initiatives and system implementations across the Controller’s organization. This portfolio is subject to change. The Assistant Controller is a senior advisor and key member of the Finance leadership team and is responsible for strategically leading a team of 10+ to support the University's operational and compliance needs. |
