Position Summary
The Assistant Director is an integral part of the Undergraduate Global Engagement team administering the increasing number of Columbia programs by developing and managing all aspects of assigned global programs. The incumbent advises students about all aspects of study abroad and also works closely with Columbia faculty, overseas program staff, and other relevant constituents to develop programming that enhances global awareness and competencies. This position reports to the Associate Dean, Center for Undergraduate Global Engagement.

The officer is responsible for the day-to-day communication with students, parents, secondary school officials and alumni. The officer will be responsible for evaluating approximately 1,100-1,200 applications per recruitment cycle; responsibilities include all calls, correspondence, visitations, admissions recommendations and alumni contact; makes critical judgments, presents arguments recommending admissions decisions to the Admissions Committee; counsels candidates and their parents on admissions and curricular choices. | |
| Advising Dean | New York | Reporting to the Associate Dean of First-Generation and Academic Success Programs, the Advising Dean in the James H. and Christine Turk Berick Center for Student Advising is responsible for advising undergraduate students across all class years in Columbia College and the Fu Foundation School of Engineering and Applied Science. Primary responsibilities include student advising, making connections for advisees to other campus-based advising services (resource referral), supporting the Center's programming and operational efforts, and overseeing the academic progress of advisees. This Advising Dean will help lead programming and advising activities with first-generation college students while assuming an average advising load. Some evening and weekend responsibilities expected. |
