Position Summary
Reporting to the Associate Dean of Academic and Student Affairs, the Assistant Director is responsible for onboarding newly admitted students and coordinating the mandatory University orientation events with Columbia's central administration, including EOAA, ISSO, and University Life.

Reporting to the Associate Dean of Academic and Student Affairs, the Assistant Director is responsible for onboarding newly admitted students and coordinating the mandatory University orientation events with Columbia's central administration, including EOAA, ISSO, and University Life. (20%)
Each term, the Assistant Director updates, maintains, and is responsible for the accuracy of the course schedules in SSOL and the University Directory of Classes In addition, they support and advise incoming and continuing students with all aspects related to registration and add/drop and coordinate with responsible offices/individuals to update the GSAPP website and EMS room system. (20%)
The Assistant Director will be the primary liaison with the Columbia Housing Office, Columbia Health and University Life and will be representing GSAPP Student Affairs at University meetings with University Life, Columbia Health, and Housing. In addition, the Assistant Director provides clear housing application instructions, conducts six rounds of a housing lottery, and distributes 120 housing allocations among incoming students. (20%)
The Assistant Director has access to confidential student data and is responsible for updating and managing the enrollment information in SSOL, Slate, and SIS; running reports and preparing admissions and enrollment analysis. Handles all matters regarding updating students records for newly admitted students and continuing students. In addition, they verify student enrollment for GSAPP Administrative Offices and as needed by students and alumni. (10%)
The Assistant Director is responsible for all matters regarding student communication, both crafting original transmissions and forwarding communications via the student affairs email, google groups, and student listservs. Coordinates communications with GSAPP Administrative and Program Offices. (e.g., website, content management, etc.). (10%)
The Assistant Director assists the Associate Dean in coordinating the Graduate School of Architecture, Planning and Preservation's (GSAPP's) student organizations and Student Council. In addition, as determined by the Associate Dean, the Assistant Director coordinates and assists with events for special populations and student groups. (10%)
Responsible for onboarding, orientation, and academic advising of non-degree candidates, e.g., Visiting Scholars and Special Students. Updates and manages Slate database to reflect course waivers and advanced standing for degree candidates. (5%)
Performs other relevant duties as needed and assigned. (5%)
Minimum Qualifications
Bachelor's degree and/or its equivalent experience required and minimum 3-5 years related experience.
Requires excellent organization and communication skills and basic budgeting and accounting skills. Ability to exercise patience, maintain confidentiality and field general inquiries about the school programs and facilities.
Must be able to work independently, quickly and efficiently to serve a diverse student body.
Preferred Qualifications
2-4 years of academic administration is preferred, as is familiarity with college and/or graduate-level admissions processes and procedures, Fluent in Slate, SIS, SSOL, Microsoft Office Suite, and FileMaker Pro or other database software.
Experience with architectural education and/or degree in architecture or related discipline preferred.
