Position Summary

The Variable Hours Officer (Registered Nurse) will be responsible for assisting the daily clinical operations of the Nuclear Cardiology and Cardiology PET laboratory within the Cardiology Division.

Responsibilities

• Triage all clinical questions and concerns from patients
• Provide education support regarding different cardiac stress protocol
• Obtain/review lab results under the direction of the NP or MD
• Order medications, documenting all clinical information in the electronic health record system
• Monitor the phlebotomy room and supplies, placing orders as needed
• Perform basic procedures as requested by treating physicians, which may include administering IV medications and radio-isotopes
• Perform EKG's, check blood pressure, and conduct phlebotomy for designated patients
• Follow up on discharge patient phone calls
• Conform to all applicable HIPAA and safety guidelines
• Other duties may be assigned as required.  

Minimum Qualifications

• Requires a bachelor's degree or equivalent in education and experience, plus four years of nursing experience.  

Additional Position- Specific Minimum Qualifications

• BLS and ACLS certification required.
• BS/BSN required.
• Must be a certified RN with a current NYS license.
• Must have excellent customer service skills in a high pressure environment.
• Highly effective written and verbal communication skills necessary.  

Preferred Qualifications

• Four years of experience in cardiology or med-surgical nursing preferred.  

Other Requirements

• Participation in medical surveillance program.  
• Must successfully complete systems training requirements.
