Position Summary
The Department of Neurology is looking for a Technician B who will be working under the supervision of Dr. Marta Olah.
Responsibilities
- Performs cell culture based experiments: completes both routine and complex experiments with primary human cells or cell lines in tissue culture that include live cell imaging, RNA or chromatin extraction, or metabolomics measures
- Preparing RNA, cDNA and performing real-time PCR
- Prepares chromatin for immunoprecipitation followed by sequencing or another data capture method
- Performs luminex experiments
- Performs flow cytometry acquisition and data analysis
- Maintains basic records of experiments, methodologies and test results in a log of work performed
- Process human biosamples, including blood and brain
- In charge of lab supply ordering and inventory for the Olah lab
- Manages P-card transactions for Olah lab supplies
- Conveys updates and data to PI on a regular basis
- Calculates, transcribes, and analyzes data using basic statistics
- Performs literature searches as requested by supervisor
- May instruct and lead lower-level technician and/or undergraduate researchers
Minimum Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in biomedical or related sciences, or equivalent in education, training and experience.
Preferred Qualifications
- One year of relevant technical work experience preferred.
- knowledge of various related laboratory procedures and techniques
- high level of technical proficiency

- interest in learning and setting up new techniques and approaches
- interested in pursuing graduate studies in the foreseeable future (master’s or PhD degree)
- interest in learning about neuroimmunobiology of neurodegenerative diseases and contributing in a meaningful way to ongoing projects and manuscripts in the Olah lab
