Position Summary

The Center for Infection and Immunity (CII) – one of the world’s most advanced academic centers for research in infectious disease surveillance, diagnosis and discovery in acute and chronic illnesses is seeking a Technician B to join a research program focused on post-infection inflammatory disorders including myalgic encephalomyelitis/chronic fatigue syndrome (ME/CFS) and Gulf War Illness.


Responsibilities

  • The successful candidate will be responsible for receiving and processing time and temperature sensitive human samples for immunological, molecular and proteomic assays.  S/he will purify peripheral blood mononuclear cells, extract nucleic acid and run assays of human samples including but not restricted to ELISA, PCR and sequencing. The successful candidate will be responsible for aliquoting and storing samples at the appropriate temperatures (minus 20C, minus 80C or in liquid nitrogen). S/he will assist lab supervisors with routine laboratory and administrative operations, including inventory control and supplies orders. Also, duties will include generating reports, keeping records, and performing tasks related to laboratory testing.


Minimum Qualifications

  • Requires a bachelor's degree in chemistry, biology, or equivalent combination of education, training and experience.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Lab experience.
