Position Summary

The Department of Genetics & Development is looking to hire a Technician B to work in the laboratory of Dr. Ghabrial. The candidate will be technical support staff for the Principal Investigator and other lab investigators, as needed.  


Responsibilities

  • Assist with general lab management tasks including keeping track of, organizing, and ordering supplies and organizing equipment maintenance, as needed. 
  • Prepare reagents, media, and specialized solutions used for experiments involving epithelial tube formation. 
  • Assist Dr. Amin Ghabrial in conducting research on the cellular and molecular mechanisms of tubulogenesis. 
  • Perform microscopy-based analyses (e.g., confocal imaging sample preparation, mounting, fixation) under the direction of Dr. Ghabrial to support morphogenesis studies. 
  • Collect experimental data by executing established laboratory protocols and recording quantitative measurements for analysis by Dr. Ghabrial. 
  • Maintain and monitor model systems (e.g., cell cultures, organoids, or approved model organisms) specifically for experiments designed by Dr. Ghabrial. 
  • Prepare slides, samples, and imaging plates for experiments designed to investigate tubule development. 
  • Assist in molecular biology procedures such as PCR, basic cloning, and protein or RNA extraction following guidance from Dr. Ghabrial. 
  • Document laboratory procedures, experimental observations, and results to support Dr. Ghabrial’s ongoing research projects. 
  • Perform other related duties and responsibilities as assigned/requested. 

Minimum Qualifications

  • Requires a bachelor’s degree in chemistry, biology, physics, or related science or equivalent combination of education, training and experience. 

Preferred Qualifications

  • Ability to set up and conduct experiments or activities according to established protocols and record data. 
  • Ability to work under minimal supervision.
