The salary of the finalist selected for this role will be set based on a variety of factors, including but not limited to departmental budgets, qualifications, experience, education, licenses, specialty, and training. The above hiring range represents the University's good faith and reasonable estimate of the range of possible compensation at the time of posting.

Position Summary

The Technician A will support research activities in a structural biology laboratory. Responsibilities include conducting experimental protocols involving cell culture and protein analysis. The technician will assist in maintaining lab operations and ensuring compliance with safety and regulatory standards.


Responsibilities

  • Prepare and purify proteins from bacterial cultures and mammalian tissues
  • Perform Western blotting and immunofluorescence assays
  • Maintain cell cultures and assist with experimental setups
  • Document procedures and results in accordance with lab protocols
  • Support general lab maintenance including inventory and equipment upkeep
  • Perform additional related duties as assigned

Minimum Qualifications

  • Two years of college or a completed A.A. program with an emphasis in chemistry, biology or physics or a completed animal husbandry program
  • One year of related experience, or equivalent in education, training and experience
  • Strong organizational and communication skills

Preferred Qualifications

  • Prior laboratory experience in molecular biology or biochemistry
  • Familiarity with protein purification techniques and immunoassays

Other Requirements

  • The candidate selected for this position is required to undergo a drug screening test prior to a final offer of employment being made
  • Participation in the medical surveillance program
    • Will work with laboratory animals
  • Successful completion of applicable compliance and systems training requirements
