Position Summary

The Department of Surgery is looking for a Technician A in the Sugahara lab in the Division of GI/Endocrine Surgery. The individual will support the Principal Investigator and Post-Doctoral Researchers on research projects focused on novel cancer therapies based on tumor targeting peptides.


Responsibilities

  • Assist with tissue collection and tissue sectioning for the lab.
  • Feed mice and clean cages
  • Manage mouse breeding
  • Sterilize instruments and clean laboratory
  • Prepare simple solutions/buffers/media for use in experiments
  • Administrative duties including simple spreadsheets, inventory maintenance and supply ordering
  • Perform other related duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Two years of college or a completed A.A. program with an emphasis in chemistry, biology or physics or a completed animal husbandry program. 
  • One year of related experience, or equivalent in education, training and/or experience. 

Preferred Qualifications

  • Knowledge of simple laboratory assays and techniques.
  • Experience with administrative tasks.

Other Requirements

  • Previous laboratory experience especially with tissue sectioning and mouse handeling.
  • Ability to perform work in a neat and orderly manner in accordance with safety regulations.
