Position Summary

The person who joins the team will be assisting in a project aimed at developing a CARTreg therapy for induction of immune tolerance in transplantation and autoimmunity. Technologies such as CRISPR modification, lentiviral transduction and humanized mouse modeling will be utilized in this project. We collaborate closely with renowned scientists and physicians across multiple departments at CUIMC spanning research in cell therapy, immunology, autoimmunity and transplantation.

Responsibilities

• Assist in studies including gene cloning, CRISPR modification of genes, viral transduction and in vitro T cell assays.
• Assist with humanized mouse studies, execution of experiments, and data analysis.
• Perform flowcytometry, MACS, FACS, ELISA and immunofluorescent microscopy as needed during the projects.
• Maintain a detailed, up-to-date, and accurate record of samples, reagents, and instrument tuning and QC.
• Maintain and organize inventory, place orders, and prepare service bills.
• Prepare and maintain reagents and perform antibody validation and titration.
• Perform additional related duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications

• Two years of college or a completed A.A. program with an emphasis in chemistry, biology or physics or a completed animal husbandry program
• One year of related experience, or equivalent in education, training and experience
• Familiarity and excellent skills with PCR and sterile culture techniques
• Quick learner and comfortable with new technologies
• Excellent hands-on and organizational skills
• Attention to detail and quality
• Problem identification and troubleshooting skills
• Sense of ownership for the samples handled and tasks assigned
• Effective and timely communication skills

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience with cytometry or tissue imaging
• Experience with mouse handling and surgical techniques
• Advanced Excel or Google Sheets
• Programming with R or Python
• Minimum of a 1-year commitment

Other Requirements

• The candidate selected for this position is required to undergo a drug screening test prior to a final offer of employment being made
• Participation in the medical surveillance program
• Position will involve work with laboratory animals
• Successful completion of applicable compliance and systems training requirements
