Position Summary

The Technical Operations Manager is a position within ColumbiaDoctors/NewYork Presbyterian Imaging. In collaboration with the Medical Director, Practice Plan Director and Departmental leadership, the Technical Operations Manager will be responsible for the delivery of consistent, high-quality, patient-centered care and the coordination and supervision of staff and healthcare services throughout the Department. The incumbent will be responsible for coordinating all equipment sourcing with vendors, installations with facilities, and operational efficiencies with technical leads.   


Responsibilities

  • Responsible for oversite of the clinical technologist staff, including onboarding, training, and supervising the technologists in collaboration with the leads for each modality. 
  • Participate in developing and implementing clinical service programs, policies, and procedures throughout the department, as well as quality improvement initiatives. 
  • Manage the technical staff training and competency programs, including training on the use of systems and equipment, document training, and competence. 
  • Participate in the orientation and ongoing education regarding department policies that pertain to cross-sectional imaging. 
  • Participate in the development and implementation of standardized protocols and efficient workflows.  
  • Provide coverage for modality managers when unavailable. 
  • Monitor and organize Department resources to maximize productivity and ensure optimal patient outcomes. 
  • Responsible for monitoring the timeliness of continuing education of technical staff and compliance with mandatory Medical Center education programs.  
  • Communicate departmental changes to staff via staff meetings, huddles and emails.   
  • Participate in overseeing and monitoring daily schedules for all sites, developing clinical workflows and coordinating technical staffing needs of the practices.  
  • Responsible for analyzing productivity reports, identifying trends proposing and implementing anticipated corrective actions.  
  • Maintain professional and technical knowledge by attending educational workshops; reviewing professional publications; establishing personal networks; and participating in professional societies.  
  • Interfaces with modality vendors to demo and source major equipment. Works with the Medical Director and Practice Plan Director on all installations and upgrades. Coordinates all activities with IT resources for installation and security. 
  • Ensures all imaging areas are in compliance with all applicable polices, licensure, and regulatory agencies.  
  • Represent the department during regulatory reviews; assist with ACR accreditation.  
  • Works with the medical director and nurse quality manager to establish quality improvement initiatives annually.  
  • Travel is required to lead training and educational activities for all sites.  
  • Performs additional duties as needed.  

Minimum Qualifications

  • Requires bachelor's degree or equivalent in education and experience, plus four years of related experience. 


Other Requirements

  • Current ARRT/MRI license. At least 4 years of management experience.
