The salary of the finalist selected for this role will be set based on a variety of factors, including but not limited to departmental budgets, qualifications, experience, education, licenses, specialty, and training. Position Summary

Reporting to the Director of Information Technology at the Graduate School of Architecture, Planning and Preservation (GSAPP), the Systems Coordinator provides IT support to the students at GSAPP.  The incumbent is part of a team responsible for a wide range of technical operations on a 600+ node Windows/Mac hybrid network.


Responsibilities

  • The incumbent will be part of the school's Systems Coordinator team, which provides support to all GSAPP students via a help desk ticketing system. This includes addressing student support requests, providing walk-in direction to students and maintaining student workstations in the labs, classrooms and design studios, as well as occasionally providing faculty and administration with technical support.  Provides detailed explanations of ticket resolutions and thoroughly documents all steps related to technical solutions in order to contribute to the internal knowledge base. (60%)
  • Assists with ongoing and long-term projects, such as model workstation builds and image deployment processes.  Assists with the setup and break down of labs and studios each semester, including computer imaging/software deployment, computer moves, network cabling and installing security solutions for the equipment. (10%)
  • Researches, implements and deploys client/server configuration software suites and/or scripting in order to facilitate the security (Fortres, WSUS, SEPM), deployment (SCCM), printing (PMP) and rendering (Deadline) systems.  Contributes to a knowledge-based infrastructure to improve transfer of knowledge between the administration, technicians, students, and faculty. (10%)
  • Occasionally assists/supports the AV team.  Will install, maintain and support new and existing classroom infrastructure, responds to service/repair/assistance requests in these spaces, helps oversee student and faculty reservations, processes pick-ups and returns of AV inventory and assists with audio-visual services such as streaming, recording, publication, and archiving of event videos. (10%)
  • Performs related duties and responsibilities as assigned. (10%)

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree or its equivalent required and up to 2 years’ of related experience. 
  • Candidate should have strong desktop support and troubleshooting skills and be comfortable working with a wide variety of software, hardware, and networking issues. 
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills and a service-oriented attitude are required. 
  • Experience with computer image deployment and software packaging is highly desirable. 
  • Experience working in an educational environment is a plus. 
  • Occasional weekend and evening work, as well as some flexibility of hours worked will be required.
