Position Summary
Founded in 2012, the Data Science Institute at Columbia University is singularly focused on advancing the state of the art in data science with the goal of transforming all fields, professions and sectors the application of data science, and to ensure the responsible use of data to benefit society. The Data Science Institute trains the next generation of data scientists, develops innovative technology, fosters collaborations in advancing techniques to interpret data and address pressing societal problems, and works closely with industry to bring promising ideas to market.
Reporting to the Institute’s Assistant Director of Career Development and Alumni Services, the Student Affairs Officer will serve as an integral liaison to graduate students and alumni in the Data Science Institute. The Student Affairs Officer will also be expected to support the planning and administration of graduate student affairs operations, policies, procedures, and career development activities. The incumbent will serve as a member of the Data Science Institute's staff for Academic Programs and assist the support of the Data Science graduate students, as well as the coordination of a number of Institute’s signature academic and career-related programs.
