Position Summary

Under the supervision of the Principle Investigator, the candidate will work to support research utilizing swine.

Responsibilities

  • Responsible for carrying out fully planned experiments including high level flow cytometry-based immune cell characterization, data analysis and presentation of results to the research team. 
  • Perform standard molecular techniques including DNA isolation, PCR for genotyping swine, tissue and cell processing,  cryopreservation and cryorecovery, immunohistochemistry and immunofluorescence staining and imaging.
  • Participate in laboratory maintenance including stocking tissue culture rooms, preparing reagents and maintaining accurate freezer inventories of cellular tissue and cellular samples.
  • Titrate monoclonal antibodies for laboratory use and participate in the generation and maintenance of a biobank of genetically modified swine tissues.
  • Provide training to other lab staff.
  • Perform additional related duties as assigned

Minimum Qualifications

  • Master's degree and at least three years experience or Bachelor's degree and at least five years of related experience, or equivalent in education, training and experience
  • Strong communication skills and ability to train other lab staff

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with cellular assays, immunofluorescence staining, tissue culture, flow cytometry, DNA extraction, fluorochrome labelled antibody titration, database maintenance

Other Requirements

  • The candidate selected for this position is required to undergo a drug screening test prior to a final offer of employment being made
  • Participation in the medical surveillance program
    • Work with laboratory animal
    • Potential bloodborne pathogen exposure
  • Successful completion of applicable compliance and systems training requirements
