Position Summary

The key objective of the Senior Reporting Analyst is to convert operational data into comprehensive and concise user intuitive reports in support of Finance and Revenue Cycle operations in the Department of Medicine. Translates stakeholders’ requirements into reporting deliverables. Assists analyst team with dashboard and report generation, with an emphasis on standardization and automation. Develops performance metrics.  Identifies critical issues and focuses on resolution.  Proactively builds and identifies problem audit reports.


Responsibilities

  • Coordinates the development of user report requirements.
  • Helps identify data elements required to produce meaningful reports.
  • Translates business requirements into technical reporting solutions.
  • Modifies and enhances existing financial/clinical/revenue cycle reports for improvements to performance, usability, scalability, and automation.
  • Responsible for data validation, and provides support for data questions and issues.
  • Examines and evaluates purpose and content of financial/clinical/revenue cycle reports to develop new, or improve existing format, use, and control.
  • Reviews reports to determine basic characteristics, such as origin and report flow, format, frequency, distribution and purpose or function of report.
  • Confers with persons originating, handling, processing, or receiving reports to identify problems and to gather suggestions for improvements.
  • Mines data from one or more sources, validates, analyzes data, and prepares report in acceptable or requested format.
  • Reviews and evaluates ad hoc report requests from all divisions in Medicine, for validity, user needs, and standardization options; implementing the best ideas for broader benefit.
  • Arranges and organizes analysis into required format for presentation to the requesting party.
  • Recommends establishment of new or modified reporting methods and procedures to improve report content and completeness of information.
  • Audits and follows through with Practices on completion of weekly reports, including missing charges and TES edits.
  • Performs additional related duties as needed.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent in education and experience, plus three years of related experience
  • Superior and proven Business Analysis skills
  • Technically proficient and with a strong command of Information technology systems
  • Experience in defining and documenting business requirements
  • Ability to translate business requirements into technical reporting solutions and to communicate with tech team
  • Experience defining and executing report testing and working with users on their acceptance test approach
  • Proficiency with the Microsoft Office suite, especially Excel
  • Solid organization, time management and project estimating skills
  • Strong background in data mining and data analysis
  • Excellent written and oral communications skills; ability to lead discussions and interact with all levels of the organization
  • Ability to provide 1st Level support, troubleshoot reports and resolve incidents leveraging both internal and external resources
  • Comfortable with ad-hoc database queries as well as structured scripts such as Stored Procedures

Preferred Qualifications

  • Master's degree would substitute for experience
  • Well versed in IBM Cognos BI, including Query Studio and Analysis Studio
  • Experience with PowerBI or Tableau
