Position Summary
Reporting to the Chief Operating Officer at The School, the Registered Nurse (RN) will collaborate with the Division Heads. The RN will serve as a liaison between teachers, students, family, community, and healthcare providers. The RN will assess student health, provide interventions, develop and execute plans for care management, act as first responders, and engage in public health functions such as disease surveillance, immunization compliance, and health promotion/education. The RN will be responsible and accountable for chronic and acute illness, as well as injuries in the school setting, follow up with students and their families, and advocate for further care/monitoring as needed. The Registered Nurse will work closely with The School’s Medical Director and Social Worker.

Minimum Qualifications
Current New York State RN License required.
Minimum 2 years of related medical experience required.
Ability to make each child and family feel that their health is a priority for The School.
Successful candidates must be able to guide families with wisdom, warmth, and intelligence and work cooperatively with faculty, staff, parents, and students, and hold high professional standards.
Preferred Qualifications
Fluency in Spanish is a major advantage in working with The School's students and families. The successful candidate will be a self-starter capable of working with minimal oversight to solve problems or complete projects. Excellent oral and written communication skills are a must. Attention to detail, plus the ability to work closely and effectively with a diverse group of administrators, teachers, and staff are essential.
