Position Summary
The Research Associate will coordinate research activities of a new study about the quality of life of transgender and nonbinary (TGNB) adults after gender-affirming surgery. The Associate will assist the principal investigators with study implementation, particularly the qualitative interview component of this mixed-method study that is carried out in collaboration with the Visiting Nurse Service of New York (VNSNY). They will play an essential role in streamlining processes and workflow, coordinating ongoing administrative operations by providing administrative, technical and data management support.
Responsibilities
Facilitate communication and collaboration with VNSNY, among School of Nursing investigators and staff, with the Institutional Review Board, and with expert advisors. Assist with the development and implementation of the qualitative study protocol, including data collection and analysis, with key informants and with TGNB participants. Assist with the dissemination of findings to practitioners, the TGNB community, and the public. Assist with processing budget forms and conduct other administrative and miscellaneous duties as assigned by the investigators.
Specific responsibilities will include, but are not limited to:
-Working closely with the other members of the research team, including investigators and study staff at Columbia Nursing and the VNSNY.
-Coordinating team meetings.
-Scheduling and conducting qualitative interviews (in-person home or office visits, or alternatively, via Zoom).
-Participating in content analysis of interview transcripts.
-Liaising with the study’s advisors.
-Assisting with communication and reporting to the Institutional Review Board.
-Submitting expense forms, working with vendors, and assisting with other grant management duties.
-Perform other duties as requested.
