Position Summary

Under direct supervision of the Principal Investigator, the Research Assistant will support the clinical study team in the start-up, implementation, execution and closeout of NIH and sponsored trials.


  • Identify, screen and recruit research subjects, following standard protocols.
  • Conduct study related procedures including taking blood pressure, and drawing, collecting and processing of blood samples.
  • Administer quality of life questionnaires, determine eligibility and obtain subjects' consent for study participation.
  • Assist in collection of other relevant clinical data and complete patient history.
  • Responsible for filing patients' charts, maintaining charts/records and updating databases with accuracy.
  • Interact with research participants by telephone and in person, and serve as liaison for research participants' outside clinical care.
  • Prepare subjects for, and escort them to testing in other departments.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree and at least one and one-half years of related experience or equivalent in education, training and experience

Preferred Qualifications

  • Bilingual - English / Spanish

  • The candidate selected for this position is required to undergo drug screening prior to a final offer of employment being made
  • Participation in the medical surveillance program
  • Contact with patients and/or human research subjects
  • Potential bloodborne pathogen exposure
  • Successful completion of applicable compliance and systems training requirements
