Position Summary

The Meyers Lab at the Aaron Diamond AIDS Research Center (ADARC) and the Division of Infectious Diseases is seeking a full-time Research Assistant to support research activities related to HIV prevention and treatment, COVID-19, and Monkey Pox.

The Meyers Lab is focused on more effectively bridging the gap between the development of optimal therapeutic, prophylactic, and diagnostic approaches for infectious diseases and their practical implementation. Positioned at the far end of the translational research process, our work extends beyond the bedside to the study of the processes and factors supporting successful, evidence-based interventions within specific clinical and public health settings. Using mixed-method approaches, our goal is to ensure that emergent clinical and public health interventions are available to practitioners and to potential beneficiaries, to prepare for the rapid and sustained adoption of new biomedical interventions and to maximize health benefits at the population level. To that end, our lab collaborates with clinical sites, community-based organizations, and government organizations to implement NIH-funded studies. Engaging stakeholders at all stages of the research is a critical component of our process, leading to practical study design, and findings that are useful to our partners.

The Research Assistant will be responsible for supporting all stages of the research process, including conducting literature reviews; recruiting, enrolling, and collecting data from study participants (surveys and interviews); cleaning and analyzing study data; and assisting in the development of abstracts and manuscripts. The Research Assistant will have the opportunity to work closely with investigators and clinicians from Division of Infectious Diseases, Aaron Diamond AIDS Research Center, and other collaborators.

Responsibilities

• Recruit participants and obtain informed consent
• Program, manage and code data collection through REDCap
• Interact with study participants using English and Spanish (if applicable)
• Clean and analyze quantitative study data
• Develop code books, code and analyze qualitative data
• Prepare data tables, figures, and presentations
• Conduct literature reviews
• IRB submission and management
• Complete administrative task related to research, including scheduling, compensation, maintaining meeting notes
• Perform other related duties, as directed

Minimum Qualifications

• Requires a Bachelor's Degree and at least 1.5 years of related experience or equivalent in education, training and experience.

Preferred Qualifications

• Skills and experience: Experience engaging with patients and providers. Experience with ethical conduct of human subjects research. Experience collecting and analyzing quantitative and qualitative data.
  Experience using online data collection tools (e.g., REDCap). Spanish language skills desired but not required. Basic knowledge of HIV. Detail oriented and able to work independently or with minimal supervision.
• Training: Master’s degree in public health (sociomedical sciences, health communications, behavioral health) or Bachelor’s degree with 2 years of related experience.
• Software proficiency: working knowledge of R, SAS, Stata or other statistical software, REDCap, and Dedoose or other qualitative software; experience in front or back-end website development a plus.
