Position Summary
The Suicide Prevention –Training Implementation and Evaluation initiative (SP-TIE) Program is seeking a full-time Research Coordinator to work on several federal- and foundation-funded grants on suicide prevention.
Responsibilities
- Assist with coordinating study and oversee research procedures, including but not limited to scheduling and running study participants, telephone screens, in-person or telephone qualitative interviews, co-facilitate focus groups, recruitment activities in various behavioral health and community environments, and tracking/maintaining contact with study participants.
- Collect, enter, and manage data, including creation and maintenance of multiple project databases using RedCAP, Excel formulas/macros, SPSS syntax, and other statistical packages.
- Code qualitative research data and assist with quantitative data analysis and interpretation.
- Prepare regulatory reports, IRB materials, literature searches on suicide prevention-related topics, PowerPoint slides, and graphics/charts/other tabular data presentations.
- Establish and maintain tracking systems for trainings provided, project requirement deadlines, etc.
- Assist with the provision of trainings, conference presentations, and writing of manuscripts.
- Schedule, organize, and participate in meetings and conference calls related to SP-TIE program activities, including preparation of materials and keeping meeting minutes as needed.
- Provide administrative and technical support.
- Supervise student volunteers as appropriate.
- Assist the Director and Project Administrators in all aspects of their work, including the preparation of grants and other funding applications and new suicide prevention trainings.
- Perform related duties & responsibilities as assigned/requested.
Minimum Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree and at least one and one-half years of related experience or equivalent in education, training and experience
Preferred Qualifications
- Master's degree in Psychology, Mental Health Counseling, Social Work or a related field
- Ability to write original Excel macros and SPSS syntax is preferred
- Familiarity with parametric and non-parametric statistical analysis, qualitative data coding and analysis (including NVivo), adherence/fidelity coding, distance learning systems, or a background in suicidology, program evaluation, or implementation science is preferred but not required.
- Ability to analyze, code, and interpret data and capacity for scientific writing are strongly preferred.
Other Requirements
- Must successfully complete all online systems training requirements
- At least a year of relevant research assistant work experience
- Must have very strong computer skills, including advanced knowledge of SPSS and Microsoft Office (especially Excel, Word, and PowerPoint)
- Must have superior organizational, problem-solving, communication, and administrative skills
- Must be detail-oriented, flexible, and dependable
- Must take initiative and have the ability to work independently
- Must be able to manage and work on multiple tasks under tight deadlines
- Must be comfortable interacting with suicidal individuals (with proper training and supervision)
- Strong writing, interpersonal, and analytic skills, and be able to use and modify Excel formulas and SPSS syntax
- Organization, coordinating, scheduling, follow-through, problem-solving, clear communication, flexibility, diligence, detail-orientation, dependability, interpersonal skills, initiative, ability to work independent and seek supervision appropriately.
- Ability to work at a computer, typically sitting. Occasional need to walk to various places across campus and/or deliver small items, such as office supplies or paperwork (<20lbs).
- Frequent use of computer and telephone. Occasional use of photocopier, scanner, and fax.
