Position Summary

The Taub Institute for Research on Alzheimer’s Disease and the aging Brain, at Columbia University Medical Center, is looking to hire a Research Assistant to work in the laboratory of Dr. Sproul. The Research Assistant would serve as the lab manager as well as conduct research. 

Responsibilities

• Assisting with ordering, maintenance of equipment and supplies, and lab organization and functionality more broadly.
• Conduct Alzheimer's disease (AD) related stem cell research, including but not limited to differentiation of human stem cells into AD-relevant cell types and modeling of AD-related phenotypes. This would include leading projects/sub-projects, as well as assisting more senior scientists.

Minimum Qualifications

• Requires a bachelor's degree and at least 1.5 years of related experience or equivalent in education, training, and experience.  
• The successful candidate would need to have strong organizational skills, the ability to work well with others.  

Preferred Qualifications

• Significant cell culture experience, ideally in stem cell, neuronal, vascular, or microglial contexts

• Experience with molecular biology techniques such as qPCR, immunostaining, western blot, and cloning
