The salary of the finalist selected for this role will be set based on a variety of factors, including but not limited to departmental budgets, qualifications, experience, education, licenses, specialty, and training. The above hiring range represents the University's good faith and reasonable estimate of the range of possible compensation at the time of posting.
 

Position Summary

Reporting to a Director of Capital Projects, the Project Manager will act as the primary lead on all phases of assigned capital projects from programming, development and design through construction and close out. Individual projects range in size from $100,000 to $50MM+ and vary in program type, complexity and size. Projects include renovations and new construction, classrooms, public spaces, laboratories and infrastructure among many other program types.


Responsibilities

  • The Project Manager will be responsible for coordinating with all internal project stakeholders including end users, client departments, commissioning staff, facilities operations staff, security, IT, etc. as well as external project participants including design consultants, contractors, and other required vendors to support the goals of the project. The position requires strong management, communication and leadership skills as well as strong experience in design, construction, as well as financial, procurement, and contract management.

  • The ideal candidate will bring extensive professional and industry experience, possess excellent written and spoken communication skills, is organized and process-driven, is able to manage multiple projects concurrently, and be able to excel with appropriate supervision in a challenging and continually changing environment with multiple stakeholders.

  • Overall strategic planning and project development (including budget and schedule development) of proposed capital renovation and improvement projects.

  • Overall management of design, bid, construction, and closeout phases of assigned capital renovation and improvement projects.

  • Project record maintenance, project status assessment, and reporting to relevant stakeholders and clients.


Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in a  relevant field is required. 
  • Minimum of 5 - 7 years experience in the management of multiple complex construction projects, ideally including multiple years managing capital projects in New York City (vacant and occupied) buildings.
  • Candidates must have excellent time management, interpersonal, communications (written and oral), and problem solving skills. Candidates must be highly organized and motivated, capable of effectively prioritizing project-related tasks and goals, and capable of simultaneously managing multiple complex projects at different jobsites.
  • Candidates must have a demonstrated working knowledge of applicable building codes and regulations; building systems (mechanical/electrical/plumbing/envelope); as well as demonstrated  proficiency in construction project management and delivery, including beneficial use of relevant industry tools and software (MS Project, AutoCad, etc).
  • The individual must have the ability to work in a client-facing service environment and exercise discretion and judgement.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Advanced degree and/or supplemental certifications such as LEED AP or Construction Management Certifications is desirable.
