The salary of the finalist selected for this role will be set based on a variety of factors, including but not limited to departmental budgets, qualifications, experience, education, licenses, specialty, and training. The above hiring range represents the University's good faith and reasonable estimate of the range of possible compensation at the time of posting.

Position Summary

Maintain required daily sanitation standards and perform set-up functions in Faculty House.  Uses the necessary uniform and protective equipment during the shift assigned. 


Responsibilities

  • Maintain general cleanliness and neatness of assigned areas in Faculty House, including but not limited to lobby, cocktail lounge, function rooms, elevators, fire stairs, pantry and catering rooms, janitors’ closet, coat room, lavatories, men’s and women’s locker rooms.
  • Clean, shampoo, and vacuum carpets. 
  • Dust furniture and equipment as needed.
  • Pull equipment for functions; check all function sheets for the day’s events, and ensure the equipment pull is done.
  • Assist with set-up and breakdown of functions, stocking of condiment stations in café; wash dishware and pots; clean coffee machines and reach boxes and other related café or kitchen equipment.
  • Deliver all food to designated banquet areas and replenish as needed.
  • Set up the meeting room according to the function sheet. 
  • Check the condition of the rooms and inform the supervisor of any problems.
  • Assist with general receiving from the loading dock.
  • Transport and dispose of garbage and trash in the disposal area.
  • Keep all functional furniture neatly stacked and in the proper storage area. 
  • Inform the supervisor of broken furniture or equipment.
  • Inform supervisor of needed supplies (i.e., flip charts, markers, extension cords, etc.).

Minimum Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or its equivalent required.
  • Six months to one year of related experience. 
  • Knowledge of the use of chemicals and safety protocol. 
  • Must be able to use various cleaning chemicals with strong odors and withstand use for long periods.
  • Requires effective verbal communication skills along with the ability to follow instructions and work under pressure with minimal supervision. 
  • Must be able to walk and stand for long periods of time, carry and push items in excess of 60 lbs., and work in a hot and noisy environment.   
  • Requires flexibility to work various shifts, including weekends and holidays.
