Position Summary

The Physician Assistant  (PA) will join a team of specialists in the fast-growing field of interventional cardiology. The primary focus will be to see patients in an outpatient setting.  The PA will assess patients in the clinic to evaluate cardiovascular disease and collaborate with physicians to implement the appropriate treatment plan. The PA will also assume a leadership role in developing patient volume, educating potential referring doctors regarding the team’s capabilities, and providing in-service education to clinical providers and extenders. 


  • Perform chart review prior to clinic days and assist in creating a patient summary.
  • Examine patients, complete medical history and summarize each patient’s condition to the physician.
  • Educate patients and their families on conditions and treatment options including risks.
  • Coordinate pre- and post-procedural testing in collaboration with the clinical coordinator.
  • Review results of pre-and post-procedural testing and communicate results to patients, families, and referring physicians.
  • Respond to patient and family inquiries.
  • Assist patients in navigating through evaluation, procedure, and post-procedural follow-up.
  • See both new patients and follow-up patients in the clinic and in other ambulatory settings.
  • Participate in coordination of care meetings.
  • Help develop referral pathways and perform outreach to referring clinicians.
  • Round on inpatients as needed.
  • Perform other activities as assigned or as  defined by patient need.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree from an accredited Physician Assistant program, plus four years of related experience
  • Current New York State PA license
  • NCCPA Board Certification
  • Prior cardiology experience
  • Ability to work individually and collaboratively within a diverse team of professionals
  • Must acknowledge that the patient is our highest priority
  • Highly organized with experience in managing complex schedules
  • Ability to manage multiple cross-functional communications and processes in a timely manner
  • Excellent communication skills with high degree of professionalism in all communications

Preferred Qualifications

  • At least two years of experience in a hospital setting, preferably in cardiology
  • Spanish language skills

Other Requirements

  • Participation in medical surveillance program
    • Contact with patients and/or human research subjects
    • Potential bloodborne pathogen exposure
  • Successful completion of applicable compliance and systems training requirements
