Position Summary

The Department of Pediatrics is seeking a Nurse Practitioner to join our team in a full-time position to work within the division of Pediatric Cardiology. Columbia University Irving Medical Center’s Department of Pediatrics is a world leader in providing care for children. Our mission areas include Healthcare, Education and Research. We offer care for our patients in over 25 specialty areas as well as individualized care for complex cases. Our Residency, Fellowship and Graduate programs are among the best in the Nation. Our Clinical, Translational and Basic Science research features collaborations across specialties and stretches from the bench to bedside. We also have several active Clinical trials available to our patients. This position will support the department by providing clinical care within the outpatient practice to Heart Failure Transplant in the division of Pediatric Cardiology.


  • Will work collaboratively with Physicians, Nurse Practitioners (NP), Registered Nurses (RN), Research Coordinators, other members of the multidisciplinary care team, and administrative support staff.
  • Render direct patient care including but not limited to obtaining patients' history, performing comprehensive and targeted physical examinations, ordering and evaluating diagnostic tests, and diagnosing/managing chronic as well as acute care problems from admission through discharge.
  • Counseling and educate patients and their caregivers on disease processes and care management.
  • Collaborate and meet with the multidisciplinary team to address quality care initiatives and length of stay.
  • Will be engaged in all aspects of patients' clinical care and work with other members of the care team to provide seamless care across all venues including outpatient, and inpatient. 
  • Performs related duties & responsibilities as assigned/requested.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Master's degree in Nursing or equivalent in education and experience required; plus four years of related experience.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Previous Nurse Practitioner experience a plus.
  • Recent experience in Critical Care preferred.
  • Experience in Cardiology, Advanced Heart Failure a plus.

Other Requirements

  • Current NYS NP License, maintain and renew when necessary. (NP’s are Required to have a NYS license to qualify for the position)
  • Current New York State RN License.
  • Current NP Board Certification.
  • Current DEA license.
  • Current BCLS and ACLS certification.
