Position Summary

The Department of Pediatrics is seeking a Nurse Practitioner to join our team in a full time position to work within the division of Pulmonary Hypertension Center within the Division of Pediatric Cardiology. Columbia University Irving Medical Center’s Department of Pediatrics is a world leader in providing care for children. Our mission areas include Healthcare, Education and Research. Our Clinical, Translational and Basic Science research features collaborations across specialties and stretches from the bench to bedside. We also have several active Clinical trials available to our patients. This position will support the department by providing clinical care within the outpatient practice of the Pulmonary Hypertension Center in Pediatric Cardiology. 


  • Work collaboratively with Physicians, NP peers, Registered Nurses, Research Coordinators, other members of the multidisciplinary care team, and administrative support staff. 
  • Render direct patient care during outpatient office hours including but not limited to: obtaining patients' history, performing comprehensive and targeted physical examinations, ordering and evaluating diagnostic tests, and diagnosing/managing chronic as well as acute patient problems.
  • Responsible for counseling/educating patients and their caregivers on disease processes and care management as needed.
  • Engage in all aspects of patients' clinical care and work with other members of the care team to provide seamless care across all venues including outpatient, inpatient and clinical research venues.
  • Performs related duties & responsibilities as assigned/requested. 

Minimum Qualifications

  • Requires Master's degree or equivalent in education and experience, plus one to two years of experience
  • Current New York State NP and RN license
  • Board certification
  • DEA license
  • BLS certification

Preferred Qualifications

  • Previous experience as NP
  • Cardiology experience a plus

Other Requirements

  • Participation in medical surveillance program
  • Contact with patients and/or human research subjects
  • Wear N-95 respirator
  • Potential bloodborne pathogen exposure
  • Successful completion of applicable compliance and systems training requirements
