Position Summary

The Department of Pediatrics is seeking a Nurse Practitioner to join our team in a full-time position to work within the division of Clinical Genetics. Columbia University Irving Medical Center’s Department of Pediatrics is a world leader in providing care for children. Our mission areas include Healthcare, Education and Research. We offer care for our patients in over 25 specialty areas as well as individualized care for complex cases. Our Residency, Fellowship and Graduate programs are among the best in the Nation. Our Clinical, Translational and Basic Science research features collaborations across specialties and stretches from the bench to bedside. We also have several active Clinical trials available to our patients. This position will support the department by providing clinical support to our metabolic genetic team.


Responsibilities

  • Order, perform and analyze diagnostic and therapeutic tests for patients
  • Conduct patient histories and physicals for complex, chronically ill and acute patients
  • Review medical records and test results to prepare for patient appointments
  • Coordinate specialist appointments, as needed
  • Communicate test results to patient families
  • Prescribe medications as needed
  • Manage NYS Newborn Registry patient list for division, including, but not limited to, coordinating with the front desk staff for appointment scheduling, assisting patients with specimen collection, following up on testing results, communicating results to families and uploading information to NYS registry system

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Nursing or equivalent in education and experience required; plus four years of related experience

Preferred Qualifications

  • Spanish speaking

Other Requirements

  • Current NYS NP License, maintain and renew when necessary. (NP’s are Required to have a NYS license to qualify for the position)
