Position Summary

The Columbia Department of Neurology Scarsdale Satellite seeks a Nurse Practitioner for their General Child Neurology Practice.  The office provides clinical      care for children with a range of neurological conditions with a focus on epilepsy.  Working under the supervision of the attending physicians, the Nurse Practitioner will be responsible for the evaluation and management of pediatric patients with neurologic conditions including but not limited to epilepsy, headaches/migraines, developmental delays, tics and concussions.


Responsibilities

Responsibilities will include but will not be limited to:

  • Taking medical histories and performing physical examinations in the outpatient office as well as inpatient epilepsy monitoring unit
  • Coordinating workup of patients which may include hospital admission
  • Ordering and interpreting diagnostic tests
  • Prescribing medications and managing patients by telephone as appropriate
  • Seeing selected patients in routine follow-up appointments, and for urgent same or next-day office visions under the supervision of an attending physician
  • Coordinating multidisciplinary services; coordinating and facilitating patient education, and assisting with completion of forms/letters and responding to patient messages
  • Assisting when clinical coverage is needed.  

Minimum Qualifications

  • Requires a Master's degree or equivalent in education and experience, plus 5 years of experience.
  • New York State NP and RN license
  • Able to meet New York-Presbyterian Hospital credentialing requirements.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience in neurological patient care, pediatrics or family medicine and experience in an academic medical center is preferred.
