    The salary of the finalist selected for this role will be set based on a variety of factors, including but not limited to departmental budgets, qualifications, experience, education, licenses, specialty, and training. The above hiring range represents the University's good faith and reasonable estimate of the range of possible compensation at the time of posting.

    Position Summary

    The Nurse Practitioner for Columbia Primary Care will provide a full scope of high-quality primary care clinical services with attention to episodic and express care, ensuring high patient satisfaction and experience. They will have clinical and admitting privileges at New York-Presbyterian hospital. They will be responsible for their own patients during normal business hours and will establish and maintain on-call coverage for after hours with the assistance of the administrative director. They will participate in an on-call rotation with colleagues both internal and external to the practice.


    Responsibilities

    Direct Patient Care Duties

    • Provide clinical care 9 sessions per week, spread evenly over the 5-day workweek (AM clinic hours are 8-12 and PM clinic hours are 1-5 PM)
    • Provide a full scope of high-quality primary care clinical services with attention to acute, episodic care, or chronic disease follow-up care in a primary care setting, in person and/or virtually
    • Maybe responsible for a patient panel during normal business hours per clinical need.
    • Will establish and maintain on-call coverage for after hours with the assistance of the administrative director, participating in an on-call rotation with colleagues both internal and external to the practice
    • Arrive on time and be ready to see patients at the start of each clinic session
    • Will strive to stay on schedule during direct clinical care
    • All clinical documentation will be done in Epic, and all visit encounters will be closed on the same business day
    • Patient messages, calls, and requests, including letters, form completion, and prescription refills, will be completed by the end of the business day and preferably by the end of the session
    • Lab and imaging results will be relayed to the patient in a timely manner by phone, mail, and/or MyChart (Connect)
    • Strive to refer all patients to Columbia and NYP specialists, diagnostic centers, and hospitals, and refer outside Columbia only when Columbia doesn't provide the service or cannot provide the service within a reasonable period of time.
    • Responsible for guaranteeing vacation and other planned leave coverage, and should strive to block your own clinical schedule at least 2 months before the expected leave. Overall, clinical coverage by providers requires a minimum of 50% of the usual total provider schedulable hours.
    • Perform other related duties and responsibilities within the scope of expertise, training, and licensure as assigned.

    Minimum Qualifications

    • Master's Degree in Nursing or equivalent in education and experience.
    • 2 years of related experience.
    • An equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered.
    • Current unrestricted license in New York as a Nurse Practitioner.
    • Current Nurse Practitioner Board Certification.
    • Certification as an Adult Nurse Practitioner or Family Nurse Practitioner.
    • Current Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA) License.
    • Demonstrate advanced skills in problem assessment, resolution, and collaborative problem solving in complex and interdisciplinary settings, including advanced proficiency in nursing competencies.
    • Candidate must be well organized and be able to manage a demanding workload and moderately complex cases in an accurate and timely fashion.
    • Ability to communicate effectively in both oral and written form. This position requires the ability to interact positively, constructively, and effectively with professional staff, providers, and organizational stakeholders.
    • Ability to lead and mentor a team through new and changing situations. Demonstrate a professional and compassionate manner while conveying a positive image of the practice.

    Preferred Qualifications

    • Doctorate degree in Nursing, welcome to apply.
    • 2 years of related experience providing direct clinical services in an ambulatory care setting, primary care, or urgent care experience preferred.
