Position Summary

The Nurse Practitioner will have an integral role in supporting the expansion of GI services at the Allen Hospital and Corlear Practice. The NP will have independent sessions for office visits, and coordinate IBD care, Hepatitis C, and a direct access procedure program for Allen based faculty for both procedures and infusions.

Responsibilities

• Conduct independent outpatient sessions dedicated to providing services for general GI patients and follow up patients.
• Refer procedures to GI faculty based at the Allen Hospital/Corlear Practice.
• Serve as liaison to referring providers.
• Coordinate transfer from outside hospitals for direct access.
• Assist in the development of a pathology follow up program.
• Represent Allen GI at community health fairs to increase awareness and services.
• Support and coordinates office pre-approval for IBD infusions.
• Coordinate pre-approval and monitoring of HCV patients on treatment regimens.
• Coordinate direct access programs for endoscopies, infusions, and capsule endoscopies.
• Support inpatient gastroenterology service.
• Provide Patient Education, as needed.
• Perform related duties & responsibilities as assigned/requested.

Minimum Qualifications

• Master's degree or equivalent in education and experience, plus one to two years of experience
• Current New York State NP and RN licenses, and board certification
• Current DEA (Drug Enforcement Agency) certification
• Excellent communication skills
• Must be available to work a full week schedule, Monday- Friday

Preferred Qualifications

• Prior experience in gastroenterology and/or surgery practice
• Bilingual English/Spanish

• Participation in the medical surveillance program
• Contact with patients and/or human research subjects
• Potential bloodborne pathogen exposure
• Successful completion of applicable compliance and systems training requirements
