The salary of the finalist selected for this role will be set based on a variety of factors, including but not limited to departmental budgets, qualifications, experience, education, licenses, specialty, and training. The above hiring range represents the University's good faith and reasonable estimate of the range of possible compensation at the time of posting.
Position Summary
The Nurse Practitioner (NP) will join a team of endovascular specialists in a fast-growing Endovascular Center. The primary focus of the NP will be to see patients in an outpatient setting in multiple locations. The NP will assess patients in the clinic to evaluate cardiovascular disease and collaborate with physicians to implement the appropriate treatment plan. The NP will also be instrumental in assisting to develop patient volume, educating potential referring doctors regarding the Center’s capabilities, and providing in-service education to clinical providers and extenders.
Responsibilities
- Perform chart review prior to clinic days and assist in creating a patient summary
- Examine patients, complete medical history, and summarize each patient’s condition to the physician
- Educate patients and their families on conditions and treatment options including risks
- Coordinate pre- and post-procedural testing in collaboration with the Endovascular clinical coordinator
- Review results of pre-and post-procedural testing and communicate results to patients, families, and referring physicians
- Respond to patient and family inquiries
- Assist patients in navigating through evaluation to procedure to post-procedural follow up
- See both new patients and follow up patients in the clinic and in other ambulatory settings
- Participate in weekly coordination of care meetings
- Assist with developing referral pathways and perform outreach to referring clinicians
- Perform basic wound care
- Round on inpatients as needed
- Perform other activities as defined by patient need
Minimum Qualifications
- Requires Master's degree or equivalent in education and experience, plus two years of experience preferably in Cardiology.
- Current New York State NP and RN license
- Must be eligible for ANCC or AANPCB Board Certification
- Prior interventional cardiology experience is required
- Must be able to manage multiple cross-functional communications and processes in a timely manner
- Must have a high degree of professionalism in all communications
- Experience in managing complex schedules
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience working in Cardiology preferred
- Bilingual (Spanish) helpful but not required
- Wound care experience is preferred
- Prior vascular medicine experience is desired
Other Requirements
- Participation in Medical Surveillance required
- Must successfully complete system training requirements
