Position Summary

Seeking a Non-Student Short Term Casual position for an applicant interested in pursuing post baccalaureate studies in neuroscience, medicine, or similar fields. Primary interest of the laboratory is to understand the mechanistic underpinnings of autophagy and adult-onset neurodegenerative disease by using mouse genetics, cell biology and biochemistry. Scientific activities include processing histological samples, support scientists in maintaining mouse colony, PCR genotyping, biochemical analyses of tissue homogenates with a special focus on isolating and characterizing autophagosomes. Day-to-day activities involve organization of supplies, antibody and plasmid libraries and maintenance of lab environment. This is a 4 month temporary position, with a possible renewal for additional months upon review.

Minimum Qualifications

Requires a bachelor's degree in chemistry, biology, physics or related science or equivalent combination of education, training and experience.


Preferred Qualifications

Must have some lab experience 

Must communicate effectively in both written and oral settings 

Must be able to work in a team setting 

Must be able to maintain an excellently curated lab notebook, as well as demonstrate other organizational skills
