Position Summary
The Division of Digestive and Liver Diseases seeks a Manager for the Clinical and Biospecimen Research Core (CBRC). The Manager will oversee all operations of the core including day-to day workflow, data management, interaction with other core facilities, financial management, and grants related activities.
Responsibilities
- Review and assess existing and prior IRB-approved protocols and consent forms for eligibility for biospecimen sharing.
- Oversee development of catalog of biospecimens for shared research use in OpenSpecimen.
- Process online data requests by investigators to access biospecimens and clinical data for research purposes and ensuring that relevant IRB requirements are met.
- Organize efficient access to biospecimens through OpenSpecimen.
- Coordinate the transfer of relevant clinical data for the database participants from the Electronic Health Record (EHR).
- Coordinate the collection of biospecimens for research purposes, working closely with other core facilities at Columbia.
- Provide an updated inventory of available biospecimens, which will be posted on the CU-DLDRC website.
- Assist in managing all aspects of the iLab service request and billing system for the CBRC facility, and prepare regular financial reports.
- Develop contracts, budgets, monthly billing for users, and manage shared resource finances.
- Compile an ongoing list of active investigators and projects utilizing CBRC resources, as well as grant funding and publications that arise from this research through online annual productivity reports.
- Coordinate regular CBRC meetings and schedule meetings with individual investigators and CBRC personnel as needed.
- Maintain and update information on the CBRC/CU-DLDRC websites.
- Independently liaise and collaborate with investigators at CUIMC, as well as outside institutions.
- Perform additional related responsibilities as needed.
Minimum Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree or equivalent in education and experience, plus three years of related experience
- Excellent interpersonal, communication, and organizational skills
- Computer skills with proficiency in MS Office, SAS/STATA, and R, as well as familiarity with Mac and PC platforms
Preferred Qualifications
- Masters degree
- Experience in a clinical research setting with knowledge of HIPAA and GCP
Other Requirements
- Participation in the medical surveillance program
- Potential bloodborne pathogen exposure
- Successful completion of applicable compliance and systems training requirements
