The salary of the finalist selected for this role will be set based on a variety of factors, including but not limited to departmental budgets, qualifications, experience, education, licenses, specialty, and training. The above hiring range represents the University's good faith and reasonable estimate of the range of possible compensation at the time of posting.
Position Summary
The Manager, Academic Advancement and Employee Engagement will be responsible for overseeing a wide range of departmental functions and initiatives aimed at fostering a positive and inclusive work environment for both faculty and staff within the Radiology Department. This role will coordinate onboarding events, initiate employee engagement activities, and cultural initiatives while managing operational needs such as the faculty promotion process and liaise with external vendors and other CUIMC departments and services.
The Manager, Academic Advancement and Employee Engagement will report to the Department Administrator and collaborate with multiple stakeholders to ensure alignment with departmental goals and values.
Responsibilities
Duties and responsibilities:
Administration & Department Liaison
- Support VP&S HR Services by assisting with faculty and staff inquiries on staffing, payroll, benefits, HR policies, and employment regulations. (as needed)
- Update and maintain the department's internal SharePoint for accurate, real-time information sharing and accessibility.
Recruitment
- Assist management team to screen and manage applicants throughout the recruitment process, ensuring the selection of high-quality candidates.
- Participate in faculty recruitment process, including supporting scheduling of faculty visits, preparing informational materials for prospective candidates and tracking of faculty recruitment plans.
Onboarding & Orientation
- Manage and oversee faculty and staff onboarding events, ensuring seamless integration and engagement during their first days/months in the department.
- Conduct site specific faculty and staff orientation for offsite practices.
- Direct the timely ordering of IT equipment and resources for new hires, ensuring that all new hires are operational from day one.
Compliance
- Track faculty time and ensure compliance with Departmental and Institutional policies and procedures
- Oversee and ensure compliance with annual training compliance requirements such as HIPAA, Institutional Conflicts of Interest, OSHA, AHT, Flu Vaccination and other mandatory requirements.
- Manage and monitor and ensure compliance with NYP credentialing requirements, such as maintenance of licensure, DEA, board certification, Infection Control, etc.
- Track and follow up on outstanding compliance issues with faculty and research staff.
- Provide ongoing updates to leadership regarding compliance status and deadlines.
Faculty and Staff Development
- Organize and staff COAP (Committee on Academic Promotions) meetings, including meeting management, minute-taking, and guiding committee members. Solicit and compile documentation for dossier submissions to the Office of Faculty Affairs.
- Manage the OOI tenure promotion process, ensuring compliance with institutional guidelines and maintaining timelines.
- Assist Department Chair with the implementation, tracking and completion of faculty evaluations (score cards).
- Partner with Vice Chairs and Associate Chairs on departmental initiatives on community engagement and Global Health.
- Oversee and partner with management team to ensure that all staff performance appraisals are completed annually.
- Staff and support department well-being initiatives, coordinating initiatives focused on employee well-being and social engagement.
- Maintain up-to-date employee rosters for ELC reporting, including slot analysis, demographics, and contributions to the annual Chairs Report.
Employee Engagement & Culture
- Develop and execute employee appreciation events to enhance engagement and morale.
- Manage the selection, distribution, and maintenance of department-branded items that inspire pride and strengthen the team’s collective identity, while boosting morale and promoting a cohesive culture.
- Act as a guide and primary point of contact for new hires during their first 90 days.
- Establish and facilitate onboarding check-ins and follow-ups to ensure smooth integration into the department, provide support and address employee concerns.
- Develop resources, tools, and information to help new hires navigate their roles and workplace effectively

Miscellaneous
- Create and maintain relationships with key stakeholders, including senior leaders, to ensure buy-in and support for employee engagement initiatives.
- Conduct regular assessments and analysis to measure the effectiveness and impact of employee engagement programs.
- Provide support and resources to managers and team leaders to help them engage and motivate their teams.
- Special projects and duties assigned by leadership.

Requires a competent and organized individual that is self-motivated, reliable, conscientious, and able to solve analytical problems, as well as plan independently. Must be highly collaborative and able to work with all levels of staff. Position requires establishing and maintaining relationships within and across departments. The ideal candidate will possess excellent verbal and written communication skills. Proficient in MS Excel and MS Word. Ability to meet deadlines and maintain required confidentiality. Knowledge of government and foundation grant administration and PeopleSoft financials required.
