Position Summary
Reporting to the Divisional Administrator, the Grants Manager will be responsible for the oversight and management of pre-award and post-award grant activities within the Division of Digestive & Liver Diseases in the Department of Medicine. Partners with DLD’s Finance Manager in the oversight and management of the financial aspects of grants management.
Responsibilities
- Assist PIs in the development, review, and submission of all Federal, State, and foundation grants and contracts applications. Manages timelines and the overall progression of submission to ensure the on-time completion of high quality, responsive and compliant proposal applications.
- Prepare grant budgets and budget justifications based on the aims provided and RFA technical content requirements in full compliance with sponsor/donor and CU policies, as well as engage outside collaborators and establish subcontracts.
- Prepare and compile all components of each grant submission, ensure that the proposal is formatted, packaged, and submitted in accordance with granting agency requirements.
- Draft supporting documents for grants including letters of intent, letters of support, cover letters, facilities and resources etc.
- Maintain detailed, up-to-date records of PI’s other support, biosketches, and grant submission documents.
- Respond to RFAs and summary statements and address issues prior to submission.
- In coordination with principal investigators, promote accurate preparation and timely submission of progress reports as required by sponsoring program.
- Track the status of pending applications, follow up with investigator regarding review/funding status of application.
- Support investigators in responding to Just-In-Time requests.
- Ensure files are complete for awarded applications, secure missing information from principal investigators and/or administrators.
- Maintain standards: budget templates, standardized checklists for core staff and PIs tailored to the sponsor/mechanism, standardized filing system using shared drives, updated resources and facilities.
- Prepare summary reports of application submissions and outcomes as needed.
- Work collaboratively and cooperatively with faculty, grant writers, and all aspects of grant administration.
- Work closely with Division Administrator and Finance Manager to generate budget estimates and ensure funds are utilized.
- Lead oversight of pre and post subaward process.
- Lead yearly effort reporting process for the division.
- Perform other related duties as assigned, including support on special projects.
Minimum Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree or equivalent in education, training and/or experience, plus a minimum of four years of related experience
- Strong computer skills with proficiency in Excel and web browser programs
- Strong interpersonal, as well as oral and written communication skills
- Highly organized with excellent attention to detail and follow-up skills
- Ability to work independently, as well as perform as part of a team
- Flexibility and willingness to adjust schedule to meet deadlines
- Strong work initiative with excellent analytical skills
- Ability to work diplomatically and collaboratively with all levels of staff and University and Hospital leadership
Preferred Qualifications
- Familiarity with grant policies and University research systems (Rascal, InfoEd).
- Knowledge of university financial systems a plus
