Position Summary
Reporting to the Division Administrator (DA), the Financial Analyst for the Division of Digestive and Liver Diseases supports the day-to-day financial operations of the Division.
Responsibilities
- Monitor budgets, as well as create and maintain financial reports.
- Assist with data analysis; create ad hoc and periodic reports.
- Reconcile accounts, including all grant accounts, to monthly statements.
- Review income and expense statements to budgets.
- Advise the DA of significate variances and changes on a timely basis.
- Process salary distributions on projects consistent with budgets and DA directions.
- Process accounts payable and purchasing transactions, and journal entries.
- Prepare ad-hoc, quarterly and annual profit and loss analysis.
- Assist with fiscal year close, budget preparation and quarterly variance reporting.
- Understand the impact of financial transactions on the Division’s budget and operations, and make recommendations.
- Analyze and coalesce data from multiple systems and present it in a straightforward format.
- Prepare spreadsheets; create and present reports.
- Perform other duties and responsibilities as requested.
Minimum Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Business Administration with Finance concentration, plus three years of related experience
- Strong accounting/financial background
- Strong Microsoft Excel skills including facility with pivot tables and v-lookups
- Cutting edge skills with financial systems
- Strong organizational skills, attention to detail and analytical skills
- Ability to work well in a team-oriented environment
- Excellent internal and external customer service skills
- High level of initiative with problem-solving skills
- self-starter with ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment
Preferred Qualifications
- Post-award management experience
