The salary of the finalist selected for this role will be set based on a variety of factors, including but not limited to departmental budgets, qualifications, experience, education, licenses, specialty, and training. Position Summary

The Nurse Practitioner for the Interventional Pulmonary Program is responsible for managing the care of a designated group of patients at Columbia University Irving Medical Center/NewYork-Presbyterian Hospital. This role encompasses clinical, administrative, and teaching responsibilities, primarily based on-site at The One in White Plains, Westchester County, New York.


Responsibilities

  • Duties are a combination of clinical, administrative and teaching responsibilities.
  • Provide direct patient care, including conducting physical exams and documenting relevant findings.
  • Write prescription(s) according to New York State and federal law.
  • Assess and documents patient response to treatment and interventions.
  • Formulate diagnostic impressions and differential diagnoses based on clinical data.
  • Review patient records collaboratively with peers and physicians to ensure quality and appropriateness of care.
  • Conduct peer-to-peer reviews for treatment authorizations.
  • Develop goal-directed care plans that include health maintenance, anticipatory guidance, and appropriate interventions, following established protocols and practice agreements.
  • Participate in ongoing peer review, utilization review, competency evaluations, and Medical Board reviews.
  • Obtain and document patient histories relevant to the chief complaint or reason for visit.
  • Provide and document health education tailored to the patient’s condition and developmental stage.
  • Generate evaluation summary reports for presentation at multidisciplinary selection meetings.
  • Participate in and present at patient education seminars.
  • Perform discharge teaching as needed.
  • Perform other duties as required or assigned. 

Minimum Qualifications

  • Master’s degree or equivalent in education and experience, plus one to two years of experience
  • Current New York State Nurse Practitioner (NP) (or proof of application) and Registered Nurse (RN) licenses, along with board certification.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience coordinating care for complex patients.

Other Requirements

  • Must work on-site at The One in White Plains, NY.
  • Successful completion of applicable compliance and systems training requirements.
