The salary of the finalist selected for this role will be set based on a variety of factors, including but not limited to departmental budgets, qualifications, experience, education, licenses, specialty, and training. The above hiring range represents the University's good faith and reasonable estimate of the range of possible compensation at the time of posting.

Reporting to the Associate Athletics Director for Ticketing & Marketing, the Director, Marketing & Fan Experience provides oversight and management for all marketing strategies, fan experience, and special events.


Responsibilities

  • Create and implement strategic marketing and fan experience plans for varsity programs with special attention given to ticketed and revenue-generating varsity sport programs, including planning and coordinating major and/or individual special events, where appropriate.
  • Create and manage digital marketing campaigns to increase ticket revenue and attendance.
  • Create branded video board content utilizing third-party resources as well as internally creating custom graphics. 
  • Plan and design content for social media efforts with the social media team.
  • Coordinate with the multimedia team on special projects.
  • Work closely with the Senior Associate Athletic Director for External Operations in providing multi-media rights partner of Columbia Athletics' new opportunities for corporate partners.
  • Assist with a comprehensive plan to increase various revenue streams, including merchandise and concessions.
  • Supervise and develop the staff of the student marketing team.
  • Providing exceptional customer service.
  • Exhibiting the highest professional standards and ethical behavior with regard to adherence to NCAA, Ivy League, University, and the Department of Intercollegiate Athletics and Physical Education Code of Ethics and rules and regulations.
  • Contributing to the maintenance of good working relationships with all members of the Department of Intercollegiate Athletics and Physical Education, and other University divisions and departments.
  • Exhibit the highest professional standards and ethical behavior with adherence to NCAA, Council of Ivy League Presidents, the University, and the Department of Intercollegiate Athletics and Physical Education rules and regulations.
  • Assume other duties as assigned by the Senior Associate Athletics Director for External Operations and/or the Director, Intercollegiate Athletics and Physical Education.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree and/or equivalent related experience required.
  • 2 - 4 years related marketing experience in intercollegiate athletics or professional sports.
  • Proficient in the Adobe Suite (Photoshop, Premiere, After Effects).
  • Proactive and detail-oriented with strong follow-up skills.
  • Strong Communication and Technology skills.
  • An understanding of the mission and purpose of institutions of higher education.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with Daktronics and ANC video board displays.
  • Experience working in a collegiate athletics department in a supervisory role.
  • Experience managing athletic events.
  • Advanced Degree preferred.
