The salary of the finalist selected for this role will be set based on a variety of factors, including but not limited to departmental budgets, qualifications, experience, education, licenses, specialty, and training. The above hiring range represents the University's good faith and reasonable estimate of the range of possible compensation at the time of posting.

Position Summary

Reporting to the Director of Cardiovascular Institute and Director of IT at the Department of Surgery. The primary function of this position is to oversee the design, maintenance and implementation of the department’s clinical information systems. And establish policies and procedures related to data security and integrity.


  • Develop database solutions to store and retrieve all information relevant to the quality improvement and research needs of the Aortic Center.
  • Build a database system of high availability, reliability and quality responsive to the dynamic nature and longitudinal follow-up essential for care of patients with aortic disease.
  • Solve database usage issues and malfunctions.
  • Develop a system of updates and integration of new fields within the overall data structure to enable longitudinal analysis and reporting.
  • Liaison with clinicians, administrators and information infrastructure within the medical center.
  • Ensure that the center is compliant with all security requirements.
  • Assist with the optimization of the flow of information to and from potential sources. 
  • Leverage existing resources and information systems in order to optimize information system performance.
  • Develop database technical and training manuals.
  • Develop policies and procedures for data entry and management.
  • Participate in and oversee the collection and entry of reliable, timely and accurate data.
  • Develop an infrastructure for the provision of timely and meaningful reports to the Aortic Center leadership.
  • Actively participate in data analytics according to the quality and research needs of the Aortic Center.
  • Other related duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Requires a Bachelor's Degree or equivalent combination of education and 3 years of related experience
  • Computer skills: SQL, MS Office, JavaScript, HTML and Data Visualization Tools, R, Stata, SAS

Other Requirements

  • Proven analytical skills and experience with analytical tools and statistical tools.
  • In-depth understanding of database structure principles.
  • Familiarity with database design, documentation and coding.
  • Excellent knowledge of data backup, recovery, security, integrity.
  • Experience gathering and analyzing system requirements.
  • Hands-on experience with database standards and end user applications.
  • Excellent understanding of data administration and management functions (collection, analysis, distribution etc.)
  • Problem solving skills and ability to think algorithmically.
  • Excellent analytical and organization skills.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
