The salary of the finalist selected for this role will be set based on a variety of factors, including but not limited to departmental budgets, qualifications, experience, education, licenses, specialty, and training. The above hiring range represents the University's good faith and reasonable estimate of the range of possible compensation at the time of posting.
 

Position Summary

Reporting to the Department Administrator/CFO with a dotted line to the Director of Operations, the Data Analyst will be responsible for developing analytic solutions and report writing regarding operational and financial metrics for the Department of Emergency Medicine. The Data Analyst will work with IT Management to develop and distribute department dashboards, the Director, Budget & Finance to complete financial accounting and the Director, Research Administration to develop and analyze datasets.


Responsibilities

  • In collaboration with Senior Leadership, identifies, develops, and tracks the Department’s KPI and KOI.
  • Reports on variance monthly and prepare data to implement solutions
  • Prepare reports for executive leadership that effectively communicate trends, patterns, and predictions using relevant data.
  • Remains abreast and updated of NYP and CUMC mandates, provide data and metrics to comply as needed
  • Works strategically to provide analysis of need for developing and expanding plans and programs
  • Develops dashboards to report KPI and KOI to varying audiences
  • In collaboration with IT, establishes and maintains data security levels and access to data
  • In collaboration with Research Teams, develops dashboards, conducts data mining, statistical analysis, and mathematical modelling
  • Provides support to end users
  • Serves as departmental liaison to Medical Center and University for related matters
  • Performs other related duties as needed/requested

Minimum Qualifications 

  • Bachelor’s degree in a field like mathematics, statistics, economics, finance, or computer science.

Knowledge, Skill, and Ability

  • Demonstrated experience in handling large data sets and relational databases Experience with SPSS or SAS, Tableau, and/or Epic preferred
  • Knowledge of financial and operational performance indicators in healthcare
  • Advanced knowledge and proficiency in Microsoft Excel; working knowledge of SQL, R, or Python
  • Must be able to communicate verbally and in writing in a professional and succinct manner and be open to feedback and collaboration.
  • Adept at solving problems quickly, efficiently, and independently
  • Ability to set and meet deadlines and work in high pressure
