Position Summary

The Center for Early Relational Health (CERH) at Columbia University Irving Medical Center is dedicated to advancing science, practice, and policy that nurture the earliest relationships between infants, young children, and their caregivers. Through innovative research, national initiatives, and collaborative partnerships, we strive to improve developmental outcomes and promote lifelong health and well-being. The Data Analyst will play a pivotal role in supporting CERH’s mission by managing, analyzing, and visualizing complex datasets across multiple research and programmatic initiatives. This position involves building and maintaining data systems, ensuring data quality, conducting statistical analyses, and generating reports that inform both scientific publications and community-focused initiatives. The ideal candidate will combine strong technical expertise with a deep interest in child development, early relational health, and public health research. Working closely with faculty, researchers, and program staff, the Data Analyst will contribute to all stages of the data lifecycle—from study design and data collection through analysis, interpretation, and dissemination helping to translate data into actionable insights that advance CERH’s evidence-based work and policy impact.

Responsibilities

• Conduct all research activities in accordance with study protocols, standard operating procedures, and institutional policies, ensuring participant confidentiality.
• Apply descriptive and inferential statistical methods to analyze research data.
• Develop, implement, and interpret statistical and predictive models for hypothesis testing in clinical and epidemiological studies.
• Utilize computational tools and programming languages such as SAS, Python, R, Typescript, and/or Julia for data analysis.
• Implement and manage database queries and administration using SQL or equivalent database systems.
• Develop and maintain procedures to ensure data quality and consistency (QC/QA) across multiple ongoing studies conducted both virtually and on-site.
• Maintain and update databases to track data collection, submission, and cleaning activities.
• Collaborate with the PI, site coordinator, and study staff to implement the Clinical Quality.
• Management Plan (CQMP) for data collection, review, and submission.
• Design and refine data collection tools, including surveys, focus groups, and interviews.
• Process, analyze, and create data visualizations for reports, presentations, and publications.
• Contribute to dissemination efforts by preparing abstracts, manuscripts, and other scientific materials
• Performs general administrative functions, and related duties and responsibilities as assigned/requested.  

Minimum Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent in education and experience required.

Preferred Qualifications

• Two years of related experience.
