Position Summary
The Clinical Coordinator - RN is responsible for assisting physicians by providing general nursing care, patient screening, patient education, and clinical support.
Responsibilities
- Collaborates with Physicians, Nurse Practitioners, nursing staff, medical assistants, and administrative staff to provide inclusive patient care
- Tracks abnormal lab results to confirm that patient has had appropriate follow up as ordered by the physician in the patient’s plan of care
- Triage all calls and assist with EPIC clinical in-basket messages/telephone encounters and advise appropriate clinicians
- Assists in improving and maintaining the existing laboratory and pathology tracking system
- Maintains precise records of all specimens obtained and sent for testing
- Reviews all laboratory reports within 24 hours of their receipt
- Enter/review orders and document clinical notes in EPIC as advised by physicians
- Notifies patients of normal results as determined by the physician either telephone or Connect patient portal
- Acts as a resource for patients requesting lab results and requisition
- Obtain pre-certification/pre-authorizations for medications, services and testing in a timely manner when necessary
- Provides physicians with results for routine review prior to scanning
- Acts as a resource for patients requesting lab results and requisition
- Provide clinical assistance to clinical coordinator with phlebotomy and administer medication/injections
- Functions as a team member, providing backup coverage when required
- Miscellaneous duties as assigned by physicians, clinical coordinator, director of nursing and practice manager
- Complies with all HIPAA regulations, as well as compliance and safety guidelines
- Complies with all hospital, department and division policies and procedures
Minimum Qualifications
- Requires bachelor’s degree or equivalent in education and experience, plus three years of related experience
- Must have a New York State Nursing License
