The salary of the finalist selected for this role will be set based on a variety of factors, including but not limited to departmental budgets, qualifications, experience, education, licenses, specialty, and training. The above hiring range represents the University's good faith and reasonable estimate of the range of possible compensation at the time of posting.

Position Summary

Reporting to the Vice Dean, the Assistant Director is responsible for providing assistance to the Vice Dean and major gift team. The Assistant Director will manage the day-to-day operations of the major gifts team.  This individual works with major gift officers in each stage of donor identification, cultivation, solicitation, and stewardship, with responsibility for ensuring each prospect case is coded and tracked accurately. Team-wide, the Assistant Director will work on overall reporting needs, event management and manage team meetings.  This individual will meet core and partnership values of teamwork, integrity, accountability, and respect.


  • Writes and proofs materials integral to donor communications, such as acknowledgements, and manages proposals and gift agreements.

  • Maintains oversight, trains for, and supports accurate records and manages the data entry process for the major gift prospect relationship management system.

  • Independently manages the overall planning and execution for the major gift officers travel and meetings, as well as on and off-site events. Works closely with the Financial Planning Office on travel and reimbursement.

  • Works with the Dean’s Office on scheduling donor visits taking the initiative to ensure that the visits run smoothly and effectively. Works to review processes for improvements and works to develop and maintain critical relationships with the Dean’s Office and other offices.
  • Works with prospect identification and prospect research including preparation of individual and industry research reports, online research, and maintenance of database reports; provides briefings on prospect research when applicable.

  • Keep current with existing and emerging technologies and methodologies that are relevant to the job position, engage in professional development for growth.

  • Partner in the development of long-term strategies and program improvements working closely with the Assistant Dean.
  • Performs other related tasks as assigned.

  • Minimum Qualifications

    Bachelor’s degree and/or its equivalent required. Minimum 2-4 years related experience required. 

    The successful candidate must demonstrate excellent organizational, written, editorial, and oral communication skills and an ability to do detailed work in a fast-paced team environment. Ability to work well in a team environment. Proven intermediate/advanced Microsoft Office skills, and experience in database management preferred.  Availability to work occasional nights and weekend hours are required.

    Preferred Qualifications

    1-2 years development/web communications/donor relations experience preferred.
