The salary of the finalist selected for this role will be set based on a variety of factors, including but not limited to departmental budgets, qualifications, experience, education, licenses, specialty, and training. The above hiring range represents the University's good faith and reasonable estimate of the range of possible compensation at the time of posting.

The Assistant Director of Athletics Facilities Operations and Events assists the Director, Physical Education and Recreation in the overall administration for the care and maintenance of The Dodge Fitness Center (primary location), tracking work orders, and assisting to liaison with University shops, and assists the Associate Director of Athletics Facilities Operations and Capital Projects in oversight for game management operations for events at the Dodge Fitness Center, and on occasion Baker Athletic Center (secondary location) and any off-site Home Events.
Responsibilities
- Maintain schedule for programming and building operations for Baker Athletics Complex including Intercollegiate Athletics, Physical Education, Recreation, Intramurals, Club Sports, rentals and special events.
- Assist with facility-related concerns originating from athletics staff members and coaches at both Baker Athletics Complex and Dodge Fitness Center.
- Monitor and coordinate physical building maintenance, project management, and custodial direction with Columbia University Facilities Operations.
- Lead coordination and logistics for varsity events at the Dodge Fitness Center (e.g Basketball, volleyball, wrestling, swimming, and fencing), including but not limited to filing appropriate facility work orders as well as gameday setup and breakdown of the venue.
- Act as the main point of contact for visiting teams and game officials for assigned contests.
- Facilitate operational needs for home athletics contests, including developing visiting team guides and event checklists, and participating in pre-event operational meetings and post-event debriefing sessions.
- Schedule and direct University personnel (e.g., Public Safety, Custodial, Mechanical, etc.) and third-party vendors at home events.
- Fill secondary coverage responsibilities, on as needed basis, for all other intercollegiate athletic events and rentals at Baker Athletics Complex, Dodge Physical Fitness Center, and alternate sites.
- Maintain close relationships with assigned teams/coaches to ensure daily and long term needs are met, including but not limited to scheduling, maintenance and upkeep of their facilities.
- Remain in consistent contact with the Physical Education, Recreation, Club Sports, Intramurals and Camps offices to ensure facility needs at the Baker Athletics Complex are met and scheduling is well communicated.
- Train, schedule, and supervise Athletics event staff members.
- Assist in the management of department vans, including review and tracking of maintenance, insurance, inspections, EZ passes, and gas cards
- Exhibit the highest professional standards and ethical behavior with regard to adherence to NCAA, Ivy League, University, and Department of Intercollegiate Athletics and Physical Education Code of Ethics and rules and regulations.
- Contribute to the maintenance of good working relationships with all members of the Department of Intercollegiate Athletics and Physical Education and other University divisions and departments.
- Assume other responsibilities as assigned by the Director, Intercollegiate Athletics and Physical Education.
Minimum Qualifications
- Bachelor's Degree required.
- Minimum of 2-4 years of experience
- Valid Driver’s License.
- Ability to manage multiple projects and tasks simultaneously required.
- Excellent interpersonal, organizational and communication skills required.
Preferred Qualifications
- An advanced degree is preferred.
- Successful experience in athletics administration, NCAA Division I level preferred.
- Successful experience in multi-stake holder facilities preferred.
- Ability to work effectively with students, faculty, administrators, alumni, and the general public preferred.
