Position Summary
The Columbia College Development and Alumni Relations (CCDAR) team serves the more than 55,000 living alumni of Columbia College along with current and past College parents and friends. We are an innovative team of development and alumni relations professionals committed to fostering strong, lasting relationships between Columbia alumni, parents, students and friends through engagement, participation and philanthropic investment. We connect stakeholders to opportunities that support College goals and advance engagement and fundraising priorities.
Reporting to the Director, Alumni Relations, the Assistant Director supports several of Columbia College’s volunteer engagement opportunities and supports the development of a pipeline of volunteers who support the work of Columbia College and the Columbia College Alumni Association (CCAA). They are the primary staff liaison for Columbia College Women and their board. They support the Class Agent Program, a community of volunteer ambassadors for CCAA programs and philanthropy. Finally, they manage the Odyssey Mentoring Program, which connects current students and young alumni with the alumni community through a variety of virtual and live programs and experiences as well as digital tools and resources.
Responsibilities
The Assistant Director supports a broad network of volunteers through the management of volunteer boards, advising CCAA leaders and general members, and communities of individually contributing volunteer ambassadors. They are expected to be dynamic, relational, and responsive to a wide variety of volunteer experiences and needs
The Assistant Director coordinates the work of Columbia College Women (CCW) and the CCW Board of Directors
Supports and advises the CCW Board of Directors and committees, manages the pipeline, nomination, and selection process for new board members, and coordinates board and committee meetings in conjunction with volunteer leaders
Manages a variety of virtual and in-person events for CCW throughout the year, including the CCW Signature Event, an annual celebration of Columbia College alumnae. Partners with Alumni Events and Programs Staff on event planning and execution and budget management
The Assistant Director supports the growth of the Class Agent Program
Recruits, trains and stewards Class Agents, an emerging group of volunteer ambassadors
Produces marketing resources and emails for class agents to share with peers, ensuring that Class Agents have a broad knowledge of CCAA activities and programs to share with their classmates
Advises two Class Agent Co-chairs, who are members of the CCAA Board, and supports their leadership of the group
The Assistant Director drives student and alumni engagement through the Odyssey Mentoring Program (OMP), including events, digital resources, and communications that facilitate meaningful connections within the Columbia College community
Develops support materials and communications that motivate, activate, and inspire students and alumni to participate in the mentoring community
Coordinates training and stewardship of alumni participants in OMP, ensuring that they are prepared to support students and young alumni in life and career growth
Partners with Assistant Director, Student and Alumni Connections to market OMP to student participants
Enhances the user experience of the mentoring platform by monitoring and refining the backend of the platform and by liaising directly with tech teams. They will pull and analyze data to make informed decisions about the program’s growth and evolution
Manages the Mentoring Committee of the CCAA Board and supports mentoring Co-Chairs in their work to enhance mentoring initiatives across Columbia College
Other related duties as assigned.
