The salary of the finalist selected for this role will be set based on a variety of factors, including but not limited to departmental budgets, qualifications, experience, education, licenses, specialty, and training. The above hiring range represents the University's good faith and reasonable estimate of the range of possible compensation at the time of posting.
 

Position Summary

Reporting to the Associate Director, the Assistant Director assists in coordinating the MBA/EMBA admission process that meets targeted enrollment goals and enrolls a high-quality, diverse student body that enhances the reputation of the Columbia Business School.


Responsibilities

  • Evaluate and recommend applicants. Read and evaluate applications, conduct interviews, and serve as a member of the Admissions Committee.
  • Promote and market the MBA/EMBA programs. Coordinate and deliver on and off-campus presentations, host receptions, and participate in other recruitment activities as determined by supervisor.
  • Coordinate and schedule applicant interviews, verify credentials of all admitted candidates, respond to inquiries, assign and manage application reviews. Assist in refining application communications to ensure that applicants have the information needed to take action toward completing their application and enrolling in their program of choice.
  • Communicate with applicants throughout the admissions process regarding missing application materials and other application-related topics via email and phone.
  • Coordinate and assist with events for special populations, such as women, under-represented minorities, international applicants, alumni, admitted applicants, etc.
  • Cultivate and maintain relationships with faculty, administrators, current students, alumni and solicit their participation in said events. Assist with event planning for select populations (Hermes Society, alumni interviewers, etc.)
  • Coordinate communication with Business School departments (Publications, Public Relations, and Computing and Information Services) on activities related to advertising, publications, website, content management, PowerPoint presentation, etc.
  • Perform other relevant duties as needed and assigned.

  • Minimum Qualifications

    Bachelor’s degree and/or equivalent experience required.  A minimum of 2-4 years related experience required.

    Excellent presentation, interpersonal, written and oral communication and computer skills required (proficiency with MS Office Suite).   Ability to travel (domestic and international) and work evenings and weekends required. Candidate must possess strong skills in diplomacy, tact, and discretion.   The ability to work independently in a dynamic environment with changing priorities and multiple responsibilities is an asset.
