Position Summary
The incumbent will provide clerical support in a busy Anatomic Pathology service unit. Will perform a number of clerical duties pertaining to the processing of Slide Send out requests presented by various requestors ex. patients, law offices, clinical trails and research. Will handle incoming phone calls, facsimiles and mail pertaining to slide requests. Obtain patient release authorization forms/consents and applicable processing fee. Request re-cuts selected by the Pathologist on key slides from Histology lab. Prepares packaging for shipping; completes research slides using electronic bar-coding and tracking system. The incumbent will also be responsible for transporting surgical specimens, requisitions slides, blocks, documents to/from offsite warehouse and throughout the medical center. Performs other duties necessary to the functioning unit.
