Position Summary

The Department of Health Policy and Management seeks an Administrative Coordinator - Payroll, Part-Time -   The incumbent reports to the Manager of Human Resources and Payroll supporting deadline driven administrative transactions related to payroll and HR functions.  The Administrative Coordinator will interact directly with faculty, staff, students and visitors as necessary and will be expected to maintain confidentiality and use of professional discretion with sensitive matters.

“In compliance with NYC’s Pay Transparency Act, the annual base salary range for this position is $36,750 - $38,220.  The Mailman School of Public Health, Columbia University considers factors such as (but not limited to) scope and responsibilities of the position, candidate’s work experience, education/training, key skills, internal peer equity, as well as market and organizational considerations when extending an offer.”


Responsibilities

  • 95% HR and Payroll related functions

    Responsibilities include and are not limited to the following:

    • Assist in the collection of hourly employee’s bi-weekly timesheets
    • Assist in pre-hire and onboarding functions
    • Collect and track documents for additional compensation
    • Assist with adjunct appointments and period salaries
    • Collect Visitor Registration documents
    • Organize HR documents to ensure information is up-to-date and accurate
    • Assist with maintaining department attendance records for time tracking. Ensure timely submission and follow up on any delays
    • Assist in reconciling payroll data

    5% Performs other duties and responsibilities as assigned/requested


Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree with a minimum of two years of work experience required
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications (Outlook, Excel, and Word)
  • Must maintain confidentiality and use professional discretion with sensitive matter

  • Must be organized, have strong attention to detail and accuracy
  • High degree of self-motivation/initiative
  • Ability to work effectively both individually and as part of a team
  • Customer service and interpersonal skills
  • Strong oral and written communication skills
