The salary of the finalist selected for this role will be set based on a variety of factors, including but not limited to departmental budgets, qualifications, experience, education, licenses, specialty, and training. Position Summary

The Senior Analyst reports to the Associate Director as part of the Data Analytics and Reporting group within Columbia University’s Facilities and Operations (CUFO). CUFO comprises all operations and capital project management for both Morningside Campus Facilities, Manhattanville Campus Facilities, and Campus Services.


Responsibilities

  • Interpret and analyze complicated large-scale data sets from disparate systems. The Senior BI Analyst will handle a wide array of projects related to data reporting, analytics, business intelligence, and process improvement. Most solutions utilize a combination of Excel, SQL, SSAS, and Power BI.
  • Act as an in-house consultant on a wide array of projects across a suite of systems relating to workforce, purchasing, capital projects, effort reporting, and financial statements.
  • Conduct data analyses, prepare financial information, and provide ad hoc reporting for a wide variety of internal clients.
  • Under the direction of the Associate Director, the Senior BI Analyst authors quality control tools to maintain the integrity and accuracy of data within procurement related systems, review procedures, and identify procedure compliance.
  • The Senior BI Analyst identifies operational, procedural, and organizational recommendations to deliver service improvements to clients and drive efficiency in reporting/analytics. They maintain a strong working knowledge of, and relationships with, stakeholders in multiple units of the University.
  • The Senior BI Analyst assists with the maintenance and development of compelling reports and dashboards to track financials, identify trends, monitor business operations, and identify performance predictors.
  • The Senior BI Analyst performs research to identify best practices and benchmarking data at peer institutions and within the industry.
  • Provide support to the Associate Director and team as necessary, such as report and presentation design and external representation.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree and/or its equivalent experience required. 3-5 years of related experience. 
  • Must possess strong technical skills, analytical skills, critical thinking, and practical problem-solving abilities.
  • Excellent communication, writing, presentation, quantitative, and interpersonal skills required.
  • Advanced knowledge of Excel, Word, Windows, Visio, PowerPoint and data applications required.
  • Experience with SQL and exposure to data visualization tools (PowerBI, Tableau, etc.) desired.
  • Strong research skills needed.
  • Ability to work as a member of a collaborative team while exercising independent judgment is essential.
  • Must possess discretion and be able to handle multiple concurrent projects.
  • SSAS experience a plus.
